State Convention Cabinet Meeting
May 21 2011
The meeting was called to order By Lion John Jenson at 8:15am. We were then led in the Pledge of Allegiance by 2nd VDG Lion Daryl Porter. 1st VDG Lion Neil Winchell led us in a song and an invocation.
Secretary's Report - Minutes from the 2010 state convention were reviewed as well as the last cabinet meeting. A motion to accept this report was made by Lion Jodi Burmester and seconded by Lion Walt Althaus. All were in favor and the motion passed.
Treasurer's Report - The district financial reports were reviewed and all questions answered. A motion to accept this report was made by Lion Neil Winchell and seconded by Lion Dick Leverentz. All were in favor and the motion was passed.
Report of the By-laws and Resolution Committee - Lion Phil presented an overview of the 13 resolutions that would be voted on.
Report of the District Governor - District Governor Gene Francis reported on the things that he did during his term as governor. He thanked those who were serving in any capacity.
District Business - A motion to donate $1000.00 to help with relief in Alabama was made by Lion Glen Spring and seconded by Lion Phil Ingwell. All were in favor and the motion passed. A motion to donate $1000.00 to help with relief in Japan was made by Lion John Dickson and seconded by Lion Ed O'Brien. All were in favor and the motion passed. District Secretary / Treasurer Ron Fladseth will get those 2 checks written out and in the mail. A motion to start working on the last district pin in the current set was made by Lion Jerry Sherwin and seconded by Lion Walt Althaus. All were in favor and the motion passed.
Past District Governor Jacket - Lion Rick Daluge presented DG Gene Francis with his PDG jacket to be worn during the 2011 - 2012 Lion Year.
Introduction of District Governor Elect - 1st DVG Neil Winchell was introduced as our incoming district Governor for the 2011 - 2012 Lion year. Lion Neil shared goals of increasing new members while working on retaining the current members. Lion Neil wants to increase the number of female Lions by 5%. He also promoted the international director's goal of planting 1 million trees in the next Lion year.
Club announcements of upcoming events were shared with the cabinet.
Lion Lloyd Simpson from the Lake Wisconsin Lions Club gave their proposal for wanting to host the 2014 State Convention. Lion Jerry Wells from Oconomowoc Lions Club presented their proposal for the 2014 Sate Convention. This issue will be determined in our voting process later in the day.
A motion to adjourn was made and seconded and the meeting was closed.
