CABINET MEETING MINUTES
The District 27-D1 Cabinet Meeting was called to order by District Governor Eric Holthaus at 11:50 AM.
1st Vice District Governor Jodi Burmester led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Lion Neil Winchell Julie Nygaard led everyone in song and prayer.

Opening comments by District Governor Eric Holthaus
1st VDG Jodi Burmester talked about How to Serve on the cabinet in the next Lions year and the 3 Lions projects for the Centennial Celebration in the 2016/17 Lions year 1: The Centennial Ride to the Lions Camp on Sept. 10th 2: Eye Glass Collection Challenge and a Statewide Lions Party in 2017. Jodi also proposed moving the cabinet meetings to 3PM and possibly a online meeting in the winter months.
2nd VDG John Elverkrog spoke on the August 9th District Governor Golf Outing in Stoughton and he is attending the USA/Canada Forum in Sept.
IPDG Dick Schwedrsky spoke about MyLCI and his allegiance for staying on top of the club Secretaries to file the monthly reports.
Motion was made by PDG Neil Winchell and seconded by PDG Arlen Milestone to approve the March Cabinet meeting minutes. Motion carried.
Motion was made by PDG Walt Althaus and seconded by Alan Johnson to approve the March Business Meeting minutes. Motion carried.
Motion was made by PDG Jerry Sherwin and seconded by Mike Keller to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
PDG Jon Jenson went over the budget audit with Cabinet Treasurer Bill Severson. A motion was made by DG Eric Holthaus and seconded by PDG Neil Winchell to pass the budget. A motion was made by PDG Jerry Sherwin and seconded by PDG Walt Althaus to have the District cover the cost of the Blue coats up to $200. Motion carried. Software has been purchased to email club invoices in the future.
DG Eric informed us that the District will help with airfare to Houston in November for the Advanced Lions Leadership Institute and the Faculty Development Institute also there are 3 spots per district available for the Communicate like a Leader meetings in Plover in March 2017.
A amusing cell phone story was told by District Story Teller PDG Neil Winchell.
A motion was made by 1st VDG Jodi Burmester and seconded by Tammy Rockenbach to host the 2019 State Convention at the Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. Motion carried. Monroe will host State Bowling in 2018.
PDG Jim Guy of Cottage Grove would like to take the Happy Whistlers Float to the International Convention in 2017 to represent 27-D1 a motion was made by PID Peter Cerniglia and seconded by PDG Jerry Sherwin. Motion carried.
A motion was made by 1st VDG Jodi Burmester and seconded by Laurie Holthaus to investigate feasibility and cost of sending the UW Marching Band to the International Convention in Chicago in 2017 to represent Wisconsin. Motion carried.
Committee Reports
Adult Vision Screening - No Report
Childrens Vision Screening - No Report Lion Dave Hineline was awarded for his work with CVS.
Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin - Written report PDG Rick Daluge reported that tissue donations are up from 850 to 1100 donors year to year.
Lioness Affiliate ADP will meet in Mt. Horeb at 9 AM on August 22.
CBI: Al Greco told us that in October at the Marriott West the Lions will hold a World Sight Day event.
LCIF Written Report Lion Laurie Holthaus has pins available with monies going towards a Melvin Jones award 27-D1 are the State leaders in donations with over $33000 in 2015-2016.
Restoring Hope House: 27-D1 tops the list of donations with over $68000 after a $1000 donation from the Cuba City Lions at the Cabinet meeting.
Constitution, By-Laws, Policy No Report
Conventions: District Convention March 10-11 Marriott West meetings will start in September. State May 4th 5th and 6th 2017 in LaCrosse, The Radisson Hotel will host. International Centennial Convention is in Chicago from June 30th to July 4th. Registration is $130 before January 14th and $180 after.
Diabetes No Report
GLT Lion Al Johnson spoke on the leadership of 27-D1 and thanked the Cabinet members and urged us to mentor other Lions.
GMT Lion Tammy Rockenbach spoke about the increase of 61 women members in 27-D1 bringing us over 25% of the membership being women. The Centennial ride would like 100 riders from 27-D1 and is looking for volunteer help that day at the camp. USA/Canada Forum is in Omaha Sept. 15-17.

Hearing PDG Richard Koch report on website $4 per member donation recommended.
Reading Action Program No Report
Leader Dog: Lion Bill Kilian reported that the Kennel Project has reached their goal of 14.5 million of which over 2.4 million was given by Lions clubs.
Leo: PDG Neil Winchell asked to have the clubs contact Lion Crystal Riniker for any help in forming a Leo club.
Peace Poster: PDG Walt Althaus asked that clubs get the kits ordered and in the schools so the project can get turned in by November 1st.
Youth Exchange: Written report
Pins: PDG Jerry Sherwin Motion by IPDG Dick Scwedrsky and seconded by Lion Tammy Rockenbach to donate 25 Wisconsin pins to Youth Exchange. Motion carried.
Research and Long Range Planning: Meeting on August 22nd 1st VDG Jodi Burmester
WLF Lion John Dickson Sunday August 21st,60th Anniversary Open House at the Lions Camp from 9AM to 3PM.
Environmental: PDG Rob Sherman No Report, this is the last year for the Environmental photo contest
