October Cabinet Meeting
Children's Vision Screening Report
Digital Camera News: The new digital screening cameras have arrived in the District. Lake Wisconsin Lions, Verona Lions, and the District each participated in the matching grant monies obtained through LCIF. The new District screener will be housed in Lancaster and be available to Clubs in the south-west part of the District through Lions Lee and Ruth Rupnow (608-723-4034, lrupnow@chorus.net).
To satisfy conditions of participating in the grant we are required to report the ages, number of children in the age categories (1-6) screened, and the number of children referred. Use of the screening cameras requires that this information is forwarded to Prevent Blindness (Tami@preventblindnesswisconsin.org) and to the District Children's Vision Screening Chair, Dave Hineline (dhineline5629@yahoo.com). In turn Lion Dave must report to WLF which oversees the grant project and reports to LCIF. Thus, it is extremely important to share results to show that the money LCI has invested in our district is well spent.
Training Session: Training for the PlusoptiX screener was (by the time of this cabinet meeting) held in DeForest at the public library on 10/7/2015, 4:30 PM. Presidents and Secretaries were notified of this session via District e-mail in early September to share with Club members.
Screening Results: To date, 10 Clubs have reported screening 516 children ages 1-6, with 34 referrals. Thanks to Arlington, Fort Atkinson, Lake Wisconsin, Middleton, New Glarus, Pardeeville, Portage, Token Creek, Verona, and Wisconsin Dells Lions for getting their number reported in a timely fashion.
