Region 4 Zone 2 Report
Argyle Lions Club
The Argyle Lions Club meets in bars around Argyle. The one time I attended a meeting with Lion Mike Keller, it started late and the bar where they were meeting did not have a room to meet in. The pool league was playing next to where they were gathered. The secretary leads the meeting, and asked the president if he had anything to add. They do not come to any zone meeting so they are not informed about what goes on within the district or state. They do a lot of fundraising and do donate back to the community and UW children hospital.
Monticello Lions Club
The Monticello Lions Club meets in a bar with a separate meeting room. They have an agenda, and follows the agenda layout. They requested a presentation on Lions Clubs International Foundation and the Birch Sturm Foundation. These were presented by myself and IPDG Eric Holthaus. They also had members of the community come in and inform them about needs in the community. The Monticello Lions Club does a lot for their small community including over $20,000 towards a new pool heater that was needed for the community pool.
Monroe Lions Club
The Monroe Lions Club meets in various meeting locations throughout Monroe. For most meetings there is seldom an agenda that is used, although this year's president has made a better attempt this year. No secretary minutes are ever taken. Occasionally, a treasurer report is given. Programs have been given by local community members about community needs. Despite having over 100 members there have been problems getting members to step up for offices. In the last several years five individuals have shifted between the officer positions and in some cases, have held multiple position at the same time. They are very short notice of when the meeting is to be held. They do a lot for the community in terms of donations, but have very few service projects other than children vision screening and feeding the hunger.
New Glarus Lions Club
I have not attended a meeting, but I did go to a chicken Que this summer. There I met the president to determine how the club was doing. Last year I went to two meeting with DG Eric Holthaus, and did not notice any problems.
