WISCONSIN LIONS MISSIONS AUGUST 2018 REPORT
The Wisconsin Lions Missions annual meeting and summer picnic will be held in Abbotsford, WI on Sunday August 19 th at 9:30AM.
There will be a small mission to Haiti the 2nd week of November. They will once again work with a medical mission and provide glasses to those in need.
The February 2019 mission to Nicaragua has been canceled due to the civil unrest and escalating violence there. At this time it is not known when or if we will be able to return there. The possibility of a mission to Honduras is being explored at this time but not likely until 2020.
The 4th mission to El Salvadore in will take place late February.
We are also exploring the possibility of working with a foundation providing services to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. This would not be an eye glass mission but more of a Habitat style mission providing home repairs etc. There is a high incidence of Diabetes among the residents and a diabetes screening is a possibility. This would be coordinated with South Dakota Lions. We will keep you informed as these plans develop.
