Wisconsin Lions Missions Report
WLM held their winter meeting at Lions Camp in Rosholt on Saturday January 5th with about 50 in attendance.
A small mission was completed in Haiti last November with about 300 people served. At the end of November six Wisconsin Lions along with 2 South Dakota Lions completed a vision screening project to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. 496 students K thru 12th grade were screened with a 40% referral rate. We also packed weekend lunch packs for 165 children and helped wrap more than 500 Christmas gifts to be distributed in the area of Wanblee SD. We are also collecting clothing, medical supplies and household items to be distributed through the Families Working Together Foundation.
A group of 33 Wisconsin Lions will be going to El Salvador the first week of March to conduct the 4th eye glass mission in that country. We are also exploring the possibility of going to the Dominican Republic and to Guatemala in 2020 working with Minnesota Lions. Cuba, Belize, Mexico and Nicaragua are not being considered at this time for various reasons.
An eye glass mission to the Pine Ridge is scheduled for the week of Tues the 21st of May through Saturday the 25th. Will have more information when plans are completed.
Respectfully submitted:
