WISCONSIN LIONS MISSIONS REPORT

The annual meeting of the Wisconsin Lions Missions will be held on Sunday August 4th in Three Lakes, Wisconsin.

Both the Nicaragua and El Salvador mission had to be canceled last February and March due to uncertain conditions in the two countries. Nicaragua will be off limits for the foreseeable future and there will need to be a political change in El Salvador if we are to resume missions there.

There will be a joint mission to Guatemala with Minnesota and Wisconsin Lions in March of 2020.

A Mission to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota was completed in May. Thirty five Lions from Wisconsin and Minnesota distributed 1200 pair of glasses in three locations. There were South Dakota Lions planning to help but heavy rain and flooding prevented them from getting to our sites. We are beginning to plan another mission late this fall and hope to do another in the spring. Dates are not yet set. The first was a good start and we have been asked to come back as soon as it can be worked out.

Wisconsin Lions have have donated and delivered five 32 foot long trailers of clothing, household items, bunks and mattresses, bedding, gardening tools, sewing machines and numerous other items to the Pine Ridge. There have also been a dozen or more van loads of these items delivered. Everything is being distributed through the Families Working Together Foundation's warehouse in Wanblee. This is being run by Deforest Lion Bob Epps and his wife Mary who are doing amazing work for the people there.

Respectfully submitted,
Erling Isely
District Missions Chair
