Wisconsin Lions Missions January 2020 Report
The last week of October 2019 We distributed 800 pair of glasses to residents of the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota. Seven South Dakota Lions spent at least one day working with us. Missions President PDG Bill Taubman and I will be in Watertown, SD on the 17th and 18th of January at the their Lions State Convention doing a presentation on Eye glass missions. They are very interested in partnering with us to expand these missions to other reservations.
Another trailer load of clothing, bedding, household items etc. will be going to Wanblee in a couple of weeks. The appeal for donations to help with backpack lunches had hoped to raise $4000.00. To date the total raised is $18,500 and counting thanks to the unbelievable generosity of Wisconsin Lions. Lions Bob and Mary Epps and their Families Working Together foundation say thank you, thank you, thank you! They are now packing over 200 lunches every Friday and are able to improve the quality of the lunches.
Thirty Wisconsin and Minnesota Lions will be conducting a mission in Guatamala beginning the 15th of February.
We are working on the next Pine Ridge Mission. No dates have been set but likely in May or September. I am getting a revised list of needed items for the Pine Ridge that can be brought to our cabinet meetings or the District Convention.
Respectfully submitted,
Erling Isely
District Chair
