WLF District Report

Summer Camp

Summer Camp finish with the total of 1,196 campers. D1 had 172 campers.

Youth with blind or visually impaired: 32 campers

Youth with intellectual disabilities or autism: 45 campers

Youth diabetes: 50 campers

Youth who are deaf or hard of hearing: 42 campers

Youth with epilepsy: 3 campers

Andrea Yenter reported that the zip line will not go over the lake due to the elevation. Engineers are researching another location on the property for the zip line. The Adventure Course is being used and it is great.

Property

Storm Damage:

Walking bridge was hit by a couple of trees causing damage. There is 1 bid in for $9,720 to fix it and is waiting for another bid.

Disc golf course is covered with several trees from the storm, most of the trees are uprooted. The baskets for the disc golf did not receive damage.

Pride Office needed a new air conditioner unit.

Dining Hall Cooler needed a new compressor.

Pinewood Lodge needed a new water heater.

Water docks are being taken out of the water on October 19th.

Vision Screening/Eyeglasses Recycling:

From July 2018-June 2019 we received 801,648 pairs of used eyeglasses.

The total eyeglasses collected from July 2019-August 2019 are 71,129.

Minnesota Lions will have one more delivery before the end of the year.

From July 2018-June 2019 we shipped 107,004 pairs of used eyeglasses to 88 different missions. July 2019-September 25, 2019 we shipped 39,559 pairs of used eyeglasses to 23 missions.

Lions Camp for Kids Raffle drawing date will be on September 11, 2020

Birch-Sturm Golf Outing will be on July 18, 2020

Hustle S'more Event will be on August 15, 2020

Deer Hide Collection: The information is up on the Foundation's website, including posters and instructions on how to prepare the hides. We list the collection sites on the website, if you do not see it on the website please give us the locations and we will get it on the website.

Hearing/Diabetes

Lion Steve Chandler reported Approval of 2 hearing aids and 1 self-pay.

The packets that our District Governor pass out with material about diabetes, the club can order these from WLF Foundation.

More pens and magnifiers has been ordered. Also looking into more materials on diet and exercise.
