Restoring Hope Transplant House Report
The house is just now starting to reopen slowly in Covid phase two. We are only able to open three rooms at this time to comply with distancing and cleaning protocols. During covid shutdown we were able to focus more on the expansion project. Cindy has been in contact almost daily with NCI Roberts (the general contractor for the project), Starion Bank, Strang architectural firm, and the city of Middleton plan commission to discuss plans and details of the project relative to the cost, footprint, covid concerns and other specifics. We had a virtual meeting last month with the parties mentioned above to discuss next step time frames. A second virtual meeting is being planned for later this month. It is our hope to be able to break ground by August/September - some of the preliminary site work would be to obtain bore samples and raze the existing detached garage. As reported to the council in May, we had an anonymous doner come forward with funds enough for us to pay off the existing mortgage, allowing us to move toward construction with more freedom. As part of the planning process, we are reaching out to the Lions of Wisconsin and beyond for potential donations of building supplies, i.e.: windows, plumbing fixtures, etc., as well as donated time for plumbing and wiring of the house when that time arrives - please contact Lion and Executive Director, Cindy Herbst if you know of professional services that may be donated - this would allow us to reduce the amount we would have to borrow for the project. Also, donated time for finishing work such as painting would also be appreciated from the Lions of Wisconsin when that time arrives. In addition, if we can spread the word throughout the state that we could use Lion volunteers when the time comes to help with moving and packing, relocating plants, taking down the new fence and re setting it at a later date, donating furniture - not everything has to be new, sponsors to help with rental property for temporary housing during construction - patients cannot be in the existing house during construction, planning a “shower” for the house and setting up a registry similar to a wedding to celebrate the new facility. We will be sending updates as we progress. Thank you all so very much for your continued support. It is much appreciated.
Respectfully Submitted,
PDG Bob Faliveno,
Executive Director, Lion Cindy Herbst
