District Cabinet Meeting - Saturday, August 2, 2020
Kindness Report
The Lions and Leos of 27D1 have always had excellent service projects and during this time of COVID-19, Clubs have overcome the challenges and found new ways to serve with several new and innovative projects in our District. Now is your chance to showcase your service projects through the Kindness Matters program.
The new Kindness Matters Service Award will be given annually to select Lions and Leo Clubs who perform an outstanding service project in one of the global cause areas - Hunger, Vision, Environment, Diabetes and Childhood Cancer. The challenge is for Clubs to make a positive impact on their community by developing partnerships in a creative service project.
To qualify for this year's award, the project must be completed during the 2019-20 Lion year and have been reported in MyLion.
To determine if your project qualifies, use the following criteria.
Did your project?
• Benefit one of the 5 global causes
• Demonstrate creativity and innovation
• Impact your community and have long-term sustainability
• Develop partnership with other local group or organizations
• Use local Lions/Leos or LCI resources
The nomination process starts at club level with the Club Service Chair, Secretary or President completing the nomination form for service projects that meet the listed criteria. Club nominations should be sent to District GST Coordinator, Bruce Voight and Awards/Recognition Chair, Andy Grosvold. One service project will be selected as 27D1's Service Project of the Year and be submitted to the MD27 GST Coordinator where it will contend for MD27 Service Project of the Year and be submitted to Lions Clubs International.
Nomination forms will be emailed to Club Presidents, Secretaries and Club Service Chairs as soon as they are available. The deadline for submitting your nomination to the District will be August 15, 2020. The nomination form can be found here.
