Wisconsin Lions Centennial 12/27/2020 Meeting Notes

The meeting on WebEx was brought to order @ 6:32 pm with 12 on line or by phone with us. I have had conversation with 4 more of our committee that were not able to attend the Zoom meeting.

1. PR Committee: Connie did not sign in right away due to a family commitment, but David Stedman filled in with the PR meeting earlier this week that did not yield much for new info.

2. Salty Earth update: BJ reported that Steve was able to get several interviews at the WLF Directors meeting 5th of December. He was also able to get some video that WLF had done in the past and were able to share. Sometime in January, Steve wants the likes of the PR committee to meet at the Salty Earth studio in Fort Atkinson for more interviews and assembly of videos to date. Due to the Covid, the real time videos of tree planting etc. was not able to be done at this time.

3. 100 Acts of Kindness: MD GST Chair Greg Pryor Stated that he has challenged the District GST coordinators to come up with more Act of Kindness to share with us. He will ask his committee to work on a program that will allow us to track and be able to highlight Acts of Kindness.

4. Centennial Shirts & Flag orders: Lion Chuck of Bee Seen Promotions, stated that several shirts that were ordered have been sent out - I got mine. Chuck asked that we send out the order forms again to the committee members. Then Chuck will put together a separate order form for any and all Lions to be able to order centennial shirts. They will not have a name on them or Centennial Committee member. After Chuck had signed off, Connie stated that she was not happy with her shirt as it is pretty much see-through. Not sure how to address this, but will try.

5. Centennial Magazine Progress: Wayne Heiman has put out a magazine index to follow and has an index completed. He has also obtained more material from the State Office on clubs and was at the WLF Board meeting. As the club interviews come in we are putting together a file for each of the nine first Lions clubs chartered in Wisconsin, that will be left in the State office in preparation for the next celebrated Anniversary (125 years, 150 years…?). Wayne hinted that we could have the same Centennial chair, but I told him that would not be possible for a couple of reasons.

6. Club Interviewers progress:

Milwaukee Central; Their article is completed Thanks to Wayne, Mark Hintzman & Jerry Rabbach.

Green Bay Downtown; Their article is complete, thanks to Wayne Heiman.

Manitowoc; Mary Ann was to get all the material that Collette Sorgel sent her as well as the info from the club. Dave and Wayne will put together the article.

Sheboygan Evening: BJ had been very busy with his business venture and asked for Dave to contact Lion Lou Cecil there. With the phone call to Lou (does not have internet), he agreed to make copies and send them to Dave by snail-mail. He promised the do that in the next week.

Fond du Lac Noon; Their article is complete Thanks to Tom Clausen and Michael De Baere.

Appleton Noon; We were able to get a ton of info and pictures through PDG David Lee. Phillip Hollis is working on the article, could be done in the next week.

Madison Central; Dave made contact with the club officers there and was able to get 8 pages of material from the club secretary, John Jenson. Just a great job putting together the material. He is going to send some pictures and some requested stats shortly.

Wausau; Connie has been in contact with Fred Fenhaus, but Fred had surgery a week or more ago and has not returned any calls. Connie will try to go through the DG there.

Janesville Noon; Dave made contact there and got a nice packet of material from them and Tim McClain is working on the article this weekend. NOTE: a reminder to all that we can use any & all pictures.

7. Environmental; Anita will be backing off Environmental to continue her recovery from Covid-19. Dave is looking into ordering the bare root trees for the 2021 MD Convention and coordinating with the convention committed on the memorial tree.

8. State Centennial Pin: Brian Overturf will be submitting the design and prices to the COG meeting January 23rd. He is suggesting to order 3,500.

Our next Zoom meeting will be Sunday January 24, 2021 @ 7pm by Zoom.
