D1 Retention Report

The following membership surveys were sent out to the district's dropped members: Total dropped = 49

1. Surveys sent - 41 (from September 1, 2020 through Nov. 30, 2020 )

2. Surveys returned - 3

3. Reasons for dropping:
*Moved - 4
*Non-attendance/payment - 18
*In Good Standing - 25
*Other - 2

4. Comments: (both comments are from the “other” category)

1. This member did not receive a dues notice or a past-dues notice from the club so she did not initially pay her dues. Instead of the club secretary doing a follow-up communication with her, the member was dropped for non-payment of dues instead. Member didn't realize she had been dropped until she received an email from the Lions organization asking her why she had left Lions. Member has since paid her dues and has been reinstated as an active member of her club.

2. After the cancellation of an annual fund raiser, a disagreement with the club officers on how to handle refunds and how administration funds should be used to cover member meals, this member decided to leave the club. He was tired of the unwillingness of the club officers to listen to other members' suggestions. He also cited the “This is how we always do it” mentality as another reason for his leaving. He stated that he had to get away from the conflicts and negative vibes. (This was a phone call.)

5. Changes that can be made to improve retention:

1. Leadership needs to be more open to new ideas and suggestions.

2. Better communication between the board members and the membership could alleviate stress factors and misunderstandings.

3. A willingness to really listen to the membership is important.

6. Would you consider rejoining Lions:
NO responses - 1 (not now, but possibly sometime in the future)
YES responses - 0

Respectfully submitted,
Lion Becky Faliveno
