District Cabinet Meeting - Sunday, March 7, 2021
Global Service Team Report
I attended the MD27 GST meetings in January and February. The major discussions have been the general lack of service reporting. This has been a big problem this year but 27D1 has fared well in comparison with the other Districts. 52 of 58 clubs (90%) have reported activities this year as compared with an average of 54% in the remainder of MD27. Through February 28th, 1109 service activities have been reported with 167,421 people served. No Lion Left Behind has been discussed as other districts have heard about it and want to know more. Several GST's attended the January NLLB.
The Global Action Team continues to work on the No Lion Left Behind. In January, we discussed Fundraising, the February discussion will deal with recruiting new members and March topic will be retention. We put together a video for Lions Virtual on NLLB and have submitted an article to the Wisconsin Lion. (See GMT Report)
14 Clubs submitted a project for consideration for 27D1 Service Project of the Year, which will be recognized at the District Convention. All the Clubs and projects certainly show that Lions can serve and make a difference, even during a pandemic. I worked with Andy Grosvold, Awards and Recognition Chair, to summarize and tally the voting process.
In January, District Clubs were asked to hold food drives during January-March to benefit their local food pantries as part of the District wide project “From Your Pantry to Ours.” Several clubs have already held food drives and we hope many more will in the coming weeks. Clubs are reminded to submit their Food Drive Results.
I also spent time working on the Necrology Service for the District Convention.
Respectively submitted,
Bruce Voight
27-D1 GST Coordinator
