Vision Screening Report Addendum

Greetings Lions,

Update regarding elderly lady with rapidly advancing macular degeneration in Lancaster:

We contacted the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired in Madison. Amy, the Vision Service Director, made a home visit to the lady who purchased a couple of small items (ex: a clock she was able to read). She also left a used magnifying device for the lady to use for a month. The cost of that device was $300. The lady liked the magnifying device and found it to be helpful. We contacted the Lancaster Lions Club Special Requests Committee for approval of the purchase of the magnifying device, which was granted. We worked with the Council to have our club billed directly. Thus, the device is property of our club. We talked to the lady, who was extremely thankful for our assistance. She understands that the device belongs to our club and that she has the use of the device as long as she needs it. When she no longer needs the device, it will be returned to our club and hopefully will be lent to another person in need in the future.

We were very happy that a satisfactory solution was found for this situation and that our club was able to willingly provide the assistance requested.

Please make this an addendum to Milo's District Vision Committee Report so everyone is aware that the situation has been handled successfully.

Thanks to Milo for addressing this situation in his report.

Thanks,
Lions Lee and Ruth Rupnow
Lancaster Lions Club
