District Cabinet Meeting - Friday, March 8, 2023
Wisconsin Lions Foundation Report

The WLF directors met on Saturday February 24,2024 at your Lions Camp. It is always a good meeting and because of the leadership we have, the Foundation and camp are doing very well. The camping season is a few months away and Andrea Yenter (camp director) is busy getting staff hired, and campers registered. The last three years have been a challenge with covid and the number of campers down. Hopefully the numbers will increase to over 1,000 for the season. We would like each club to contact your School District Nurse about the Lions camp for students.

The off-season Camp Rentals has increased the last few years and projections are for over $200,000 from over 50 events. This is up about $40,000 from last year and $60,000 from 2022. Hospitality director Phillip Potter has been working hard at promoting our Rental program in the central Wisconsin area. If you would be interested in using the facilities for any organization you are involved in, contact Phillip. Director Jim and I will be handing out the Lions Camp for Kids Raffle tickets at the Cabinet meeting. Last year we raised over $48,000 for the camp, this year we have a goal of $53,000. We need your help selling to accomplish this.

March 26th is American Diabetes Alert Day. Online orders for material are now available on WLF website. Since July 1 st 63,923 pieces of material has been ordered for Diabetes Awareness. There will be a Strides Event at the State Convention, although a little different than the last few years. The walk will be a read along for the -Year One Type One book. Six prizes of $50 gift gas cards will be given out. Thanks to all the clubs that have donated your used eye glasses. Since July 570,000 and 132,225 have been shipped on 57 missions to twelve Countries.

Vision Screening is 98,028 since July with 11,529 referrals. This is up from 82,851 and 10,945 referred in 2023. Donations to WLF from our District have been going down the last few years, and we are sixth out of the ten Districts. We used to be in the top three most years. Please consider increasing your donation if your club is in a position to do so.

Thank you and we appreciate representing you on the WLF Board.
Lion Jim Fletcher and PDG John Elvekrog
