Cabinet Meeting Minutes
1). Call to order @ 6:50 by District Governor Ron Wright and welcomed everyone. Also introduced International Director John Lawrence and his partner in service PDG Carol Schoonover.
2). Pledge of Allegiance (FVDG Jim)
3). Words of Wisdom (SVDG Tony)
4). Secretary's report approval of January 12th meeting minutes (Lion Steve) - Motion by PDG Tammy Rochenbach and 2nd by 2nd DG Tony Sobczak to approve minutes, motion carried.
5). Treasurer's report (Lion Bill) - Lion Bill reported that the report was posted on our website. We have approximately $64,000 in our activity account and approximately $34,000 in our admin account. “We are in pretty good shape”, however Lion Bill reported that we have collected a bit less this year. We stand at $28,000 collected for the activity account compared to $44,000 last year. Motion by Lion Adam Crowson and 2nd by PDG Al Johnson to approve treasurer's report, motion carried.
6). State Convention update (Lion Ron) - May 1st in La Crosse starting with golf on Thursday and Convention Friday - Saturday May 2nd & 3rd. The theme this year is “Kentucky Derby”.
7). District wide Day of Service (Lion Ron/Lion Al) - The date is April 26th. We need to make sure our service gets reported in the portal for both Lions Clubs and the Leo's Clubs.
8). UW Madison Campus Club update and action item. (PDG Bob) - PDG Bob Faliveno reported that he, and others, are working on rebooting the UW Madison club. They had been idle with zero members. They now have 5 members and all have agreed to take officer positions. However, money is an issue and they have asked if they could pay $20/member and have the District subsidize the remainder to get them started? After some discussion PDG Jeff made a motion to put $500 in their admin account, reoccurring every 6 months, 2nd by Rick Daluge. motion carried.
9). Committee reports:
A). GAT - GMT Tim Meier pointed out the officer training dates (times and dates later in the minutes); Lion Tim also reported that we, as a District, are currently down 42 members, as we have gained 90 new members but have dropped 132 Lions so far this fiscal year.
B). LEBW (Lion Erica) - April is National Donate Life month. Portillo's will be donating a portion of their sales to the Eye Bank on April 30th, 5:00 - 8:00 PM, On April 26th the McFarland Lions will be doing clean-up at the Eye Bank, all Lions are welcome to join in.
C). RHTH (report) - no report submitted
D). USA/Canada Forum (FVDG Jim) - will be held this year in Atlantic City, September 18th - 20th. The information regarding the event has been emailed and can also be found on the website. USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum
E). Child vision screening report (Lion Milo) - Milo referred to the submitted report. He did say that we now have 132 Certified Screeners in the District. Also, Keith Mueller is the new contact for the Shopko vouchers.
F). Adult vision screening (PDG Bob) - report submitted. PDG Bob Faliveno said “we are a rag-tag group but are chugging along”. Could always use more volunteers. He also mentioned that on October 25th there will be an adult screening, with emphasis on homeless Veterans.
G). Hearing (Lion Laurie) - reported we gave 2 hearing aids to one application this year. We only had one referral.
H). Peace Poster - Looking for a chair for this. Our District had 11 entries this year and then won at the Multiple District level. See 1st DG Jim if interested.
I). Youth Exchange (Lion Crystal) - Report was read and is included with the attached reports
J). WLF (report Lion Jim/PDG John) - Lion Jim thanked everyone “as we are all owners”. PDG John passed around a can for donations. They encouraged Lions to put together a group from their club to come for a visit to the camp. Encouraged Lions to participate in the Lions Pride shoot on June 14th. Also put on your calendars the Birch-Sturm Golf Outing on July 19th. The WLF raffle tickets are printed and this year each club will receive 25 tickets. Lastly, the deer hide collections brought in $117,000 this year. If your club hasn't been involved, please consider it. Let's continue to grow this program.
K). LCIF (PDG Conrad) - Reported that we have a goal this year for $63,379 and we are currently at 43% of our goal. Encouraged clubs to donate if they haven't already. PDG Conrad said that there have been so many disasters the past two year and LCIF has been there to help. Also mentioned the “Kiss the Fish fundraiser, which DG Ron covered.
L). Diabetes (report Lion Jill) - No report. There will be a scavenger hunt tomorrow.
M). Leader Dog (Lion Patty) - No report.
N). Childhood Cancer (Lion Julie) - Please see report
O). Birch-Sturm (Lion Greg) - nothing to report
P). Leo Report (Lion Brenda) - sent step by step directions to Leos advisors on how to enter their officers, activities, and hours. She has not heard back from any of the advisors. Please see the submitted report.
Q). Environment (Lion Leah) - No report
R). Lions Missions (IPDG Jeff) - Nothing new to report. There will be mission's discussions tomorrow (Saturday).
S). New voices (Lion Adam) - Nothing new to report
T). Other - DGE Jim Klubertanz reported that no one from our District has signed up for the ELLI training in Rosholt. Please consider applying.

12). Upcoming events:
• The 4th annual CARe Cruise is set for May 10th
• Lake Wisconsin Lions having a pancake breakfast for the McKenzie Center, at the McKenzie Center on Saturday, April 5th
• Syttende Mia in Stoughton, May 16th - 18th
• The 41st annual Trout Days in Cross Plains, May 2nd - May 4th. They are raising money to help the community build a Pavilion.
