Cabinet Meeting Minutes
Call to Order at 3:02 pm by DG Conrad Dreyer
Pledge led by DG Conrad Dreyer
Words of Wisdom from Vince Lombardi, given by 1st VDG Tammy Rockenbach.
“Perfection is not obtainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.”
Secretary Report - DG Conrad reported the minutes are on the District website. There were no additions or corrections. Motion to approve the October 13th meeting minutes was made by GLT Tony Sobczak, 2nd by DCC Missy Dickson, motion carries unanimously.
Treasurer Report - CT Bill Severson stated that financials will be posted on the 27 D-1 website. He moved 20,000 from Administrative account to CD's so we earn more interest. We are still in decent financial shape given we didn't collect any district dues for the first half which cost about $6,600. We still have $23,000 in the administrative account besides the $20,000 that are tied up in the CD's.
He is trying to get everything cleaned up in the activities account by the end of the year. We have a lot of money setting in the flood plain relief ($3,300), vision ($15,000), & diabetes ($12,000) accounts. Emergency fund has ($1,800). He paid out the $3,000 to Leader Dog, and $3,200 to Restoring Hope house. We have total about $65,000 in the activities account.
Motion to approve the Treasurers report by PDG Arlen Milestone 2nd by LAL Greg Clark, motion passes unanimously.
Nami - Membership - We need to work on retention. We've lost 12 members to death this year in the district, so we are setting at - 12 for the year. We are doing a great job of adding new members. But where we need to concentrate is keeping our younger members involved and active Lions members. We will have more information on this at District Convention.
Campaign 100 - Wisconsin Lions have donated $97,000 to LCIF for Campaign 100. This year so far our District has given approximately $19,000. All the other districts are averaging about $12,500. Our 27 D-1 District really does a great job of supporting LCIF.
Service projects so far 27 D-1 has 66% of the clubs reporting 806 service projects. The average for the remaining clubs in Wisconsin is 275 per district. We are reporting almost 3 times the amount of service projects as the other Districts, way to go 27 D-1!
Dues Increase from International - LCIF wants to increase membership dues $3 for the 2021-2022 Lions year. They are proposing a cost of living increase for every year after that. This will be voted on at the International Convention in Singapore. The executive committee is attempting to do away with the cost of living increase. LCI feels it's needed with membership dropping. We have not had a dues increase for approximately 10 years.
Donations Request - The executive committee have met and come back with a recommendation to the cabinet as of what to do with the $6,902 raffle money raised from last year's convention… We are looking to fund scholarships for a couple of interested Leo members to attend their version of the USA/ Canada forum. $2,300.
Restoring Hope House in need of funds because of the expansion project this summer, $2300.
And finally, LCIF's Campaign 100, $2,300. PDG John Jenson mentioned quoting from a fact sheet on Record Keeping and Reporting Requirements for Raffles published by the Division of Gaming. It quotes "No raffle profits may be donated to a National organization, an out-of-state organization, or a ministry/outreach program in another country." They cite as authority section 463.94 of the Wisconsin Statutes
With the uncertainty surrounding the Campaign 100 donation, it was decided to table that portion of the recommendation and go forward with the other two recommendations.
Motion by PDG Jodi to give $2,600 to Restoring Hope House, and $2,300 to Leo scholarships to attend USA/ Canada forum. Seconded by DCC Missy Dickson, motion carries unanimously.
